Ms. Mya Yordan
Ms. Mya has been speaking Spanish for her whole life. Both her parents were born in the Dominican Republic, and they moved to the U.S. about 30 years ago. Ms. Mya is originally from Parker, CO, and graduated from Chaparral High School. She holds an Associate's Degree in General Studies from Lamar Community College. She is very fun, outgoing, and a genuine person. She has 6 nieces and nephews and absolutely loves spending time with them and being with them. She's so excited for the opportunity to teach children the language that has helped her so much throughout her life.
Ms. Mariela (Maggie) Donahue
Ms. Maggie is from Buenos Aires, Argentina. In Argentina, she taught Spanish and English private lessons and volunteered at her children's schools. She recently moved to Colorado with her family after living in North Carolina. She enjoys traveling, hiking, going to city events, hanging out with her family, and learning more about the culture of her new state. Her first language is Spanish and her second language is English. She has also studied Portuguese and is currently learning Italian in her spare time. Languages are her passion! She loves teaching because she gets the chance to introduce the children to a new language, culture, and to open the world of opportunities by speaking another language while helping them to appreciate different aspects of life. Their bright smiles make her day! Ms. Maggie is looking forward to a great year!
Mr. Jose Rodriguez Vazquez
Mr. Rodríguez is from Puerto Rico, and he moved to Colorado in June 2016. Although Spanish is his first language, Rodriguez always had an interest in learning English and decided to become an English teacher. He received a B.A. in Secondary Education with special emphasis on teaching English as a second language to Spanish speakers. He taught ESL at Manuel Bou Galí Junior High School back in Puerto Rico for two and a half years. Some of his hobbies include reading, singing, and drawing. Mr. Rodríguez believes that students learn in a social context, which means that they have a better language acquisition when they share or communicate with their peers.
Ms. Rosana Rovira-Parra
Mrs. Rosana is a native Spanish speaker from Spain. She recently move to Colorado from Baton Rouge, LA, where she worked as a Spanish teacher for three years at Baton Rouge International School. She is a mom of three girls, ages 10, 8 and 5. Mrs. Rosana and her daughters all speak 3 languages: English, Spanish, and French. She likes traveling, cooking, painting, running, and teaching her beautiful language. She is currentlyattending school to get a B.A. in Spanish. For her, teaching not only means to teach the language, but to help her students to become a better people in the future. She strongly believes that teaching children another language will help them to be successful in life. She is looking forward to the opportunity to teach and become a better teacher every day!
Ms. Sarah Williams
Ms. Sarah is from Houston, Texas and now lives in Littleton, Colorado. She started learning Spanish in an aferschool program when she was 4 years old. From personal experience she can attest that learning another language as a child helps to develop skills that last a lifetime and opens many doors for the future. Ms. Sarah also has an Associate of Arts from Arapahoe Community College, a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification and a Second Language Acquisition Methods (SLAM) for Spanish certification. She tutors individuals both Italian and Spanish and has traveled extensively in Central America and Europe. She also loves painting, meeting new people, and skiing in the mountains. She is thrilled at the opportunity to share her love of Spanish language and culture with children in Colorado!
Ms. Melissa Povis
Ms. Melissa is a native Spanish speaker. She was born in Denver, CO but raised most of her life in Peru. She graduated from Golden High School, then obtained a Bachelor in Psychology at Colorado State University. Ms. Melissa also has a Master's in Business. She enjoys meeting people from other cultures and loves to share her culture with them. She also loves to cook and read books, but what she loves the most about herself is that she is the mom of two wonderful bilingual boys that fill her days with so much excitement :)
Mr. Ken DiFulvio
Mr. Kenny DiFulvio is a junior at CU Boulder double majoring in Economics and Spanish/Portuguese. He has been studying Spanish for 6 years and has tutored English as Second Language students as well as being involved with the Spanish speaking community at CU. Although Spanish and Portuguese are his majors, Mr. Ken studies two other languages at the institution so he thinks of himself as a bit of a linguistics nerd!
Ms. Maira Magallanes
Ms. Maira has been speaking Spanish her whole life. Spanish is her first language and English is her second Language. Originally born in Montclair, California but she moved to Colorado when she was very young. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Denver Co and is currently in school to get a degree in Social Work. Ms. Maira is an extremely fun, outgoing, patient, friendly person and is always up for an adventure. She loves going on hikes, playing basketball and softball. She is so excited for the opportunity to teach students Spanish, not only because learning a new language is such a beautiful and exciting thing but you are also breaking barriers and become so much more involved with a new culture. Students also experience new opportunities to help others in a way you never thought you could. She is very passionate for helping others and always strives to put them first when she gets the chance. Ms. Maira is extremely grateful for this chance to be a teacher and teach these students something new!
Ms. Marika Brown
Ms. Marika was born and raised in Denver and after many years away is delighted to be back in the Rockies!
She attended the University of Colorado and studied abroad in Seville, Spain, where she not only learned to love the Spanish language but the people and culture as well. She has always loved children and enjoys sharing her love of language, music and life in the classroom. She has 4 children and married her high school sweetheart. Ms. Marika is currently working on her 12th recording with her sisters and feels blessed to pursue her passions!
Ms. Carolina Gannon
Ms. Carolina is an enthusiastic Spanish Teacher born in Mexico City with 18 years of experience in the field. She has been living in the United States for the last five years. Her passion is teaching and she believes that being a bilingual person is so valued nowadays, not only to help you to find a better job, but also to stimulate the advanced process that the brain performs. She thoroughly enjoys teaching children, teenagers and adult classes, and is committed to providing the richest experience possible to each and every student. She feels fascinated with the experience that each new group offers and takes great joy in her students' success. Ms. Carolina likes to meet new students and experience different cultures. She is a patient and friendly teacher dedicated to helping students overcome barriers in their Spanish and feel comfortable communicating fluently.
Ms. Paola Moore
Ms. Paola was born and raised in Guatemala city, Guatemala. She has always had a passion and drive to help and teach since she was very young. During her teen years she discovered her teaching talent through Sunday school. This kept her motivated throughout the years to complete her education and academic goals and be able to teach children and inspire them. She attended the University of Phoenix where she completed a bachelors degree program in education for grades K-6. She is excited to be able to teach children Spanish, which is a great life skill that will open greater opportunities for them and boost their confidence.
Ms. Andrea Dowlin
Ms. Andrea currently attends the University of Denver, pursuing a degree in psychology, with a double-minor in Spanish and International Studies. She is passionate about the Spanish language for many reason, especially as the Spanish language provides the opportunity to connect with new people in our own as well as other cultures. She began taking Spanish classes in elementary school and continues all the way through college. She has had the opportunity to translate English to Spanish between veterinarians and locals in Honduras when volunteering for “Paws Without Borders”. She practiced Spanish this previous summer when she lived in a small, local beach town in Spain. She loves learning new things, teaching and spending time with friends. She is excited to teach kids the Spanish language in a fun, engaging, and inclusive way.
Ms. Karen Ortiz
Karen was born and raised in Puerto Rico until her family moved to Southern California in her early teens. She lived there for 20+ years until starting her job as a flight attendant, where she gained he love of travel. She is currently in her favorite job, being a mom to her two daughters. Watching how excited they are to learn Spanish inspired her to share that joy with others, which is why she has decided to teach!

Ms. Katie Roark
Ms. Katie is originally from California, but has been living in Colorado for about two years. She graduated with a BA in Communication from CU Boulder, and has her MA in Education. While in university, Katie studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain and San Jose, Costa Rica, where she fell in love with the Spanish language and experiencing other cultures. After college, Katie taught elementary school for three years, before a job opportunity relocated Ms. Katie and her husband to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a year, and then Costa Rica for three years, where her first child was born. Ms. Katie has been lucky enough to stay home with her two kids for the last three years, and couldn’t be more excited to get back into the classroom to share her passion of teaching, speaking Spanish and learning about other cultures with you and your kids! In her free time, Katie enjoys doing yoga, hiking, biking, snowboarding, cooking, reading, and traveling to name a few! Katie teaches at our JeffCo schools!
Ms. Sandy Soberanes
Ms. Sandy was born in Los Angeles California, and recently moved to Colorado. Spanish is her first language, as her parents made sure to teach her before she started school. She is so thankful for this, because she can appreciate the advantages of being bilingual. Family and friends are very important to her, and she loves to spend time with them!
Mr. Zane Smith
Mr. Zane is From South Webster, Ohio. He recently graduated with a Master’s Degree from Ohio State University and even more recently moved to Denver! He is a Speech-Language Pathologist but began learning Spanish when he was in Kindergarten. Although his native language is English, he strives to find ways to pursue his passion for learning and teaching new languages. He also has a degree in Hispanic Linguistics. He enjoys traveling the world, experiencing new cultures, trying and making exotic new foods, and loves to read and run marathons in his free time! He and his friends tend to think of him as a bit of a linguistics nerd!
Ms. Kiki Carey
Ms. KiKi was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and received a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Purdue University. She discovered her love for Spanish when she was 12 and has studied the language intensely ever since. She studied abroad in Mérida, Mexico and Alicante, Spain. She believes learning additional languages is a gift and encourages intercultural understanding and awareness. She is also very passionate about children learning additional languages at a young age, as it's an opportunity that she didn't have, but makes all the difference! In her spare time, Ms. KiKi enjoys traveling, food, DIY projects, and health and wellness.
Ms. Jordan Miller
Ms. Jordan began learning Spanish at age eleven through an English/Spanish bilingual public school program. She continued studying Spanish in high school and college, and earned a minor in Spanish language, literature, and culture from the University of Michigan. She is also a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder with a master of music in French horn performance. Ms. Jordan is an experienced music teacher and is excited to be teaching Spanish to kids for the first time.
Mr. Devon Kindrick
Mrs. Devon H.F.Kindrick is an exuberant Spanish teacher! She was born and raised in Malibu California. During her elementary school years, she participated in an after-school Spanish program for 2 years. She attended Santa Monica High School where she took Spanish all 4 years. She spent a year at California State University at Chico where she continued her Spanish education. In subsequent years, she transferred to California State University at Northridge where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. She and her family have relocated to Littleton, Colorado in 2008. She has been married for 16 years and has 3 children, Isabella 15, Gabriel 12 and Sebastian 7. She actively volunteers at her children's school, STEM School Highlands Ranch. When she isn't teaching or volunteering with children she enjoys camping, boating, and paddle boarding. Lastly, she is an ordained minister and a dedicated Yogi.
Ms. Dominique Willette
Ms. Dominique is a native Spanish speaker from Costa Rica. She just moved to Colorado from her second hometown in Laguna Beach, California. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor’s in Public Health. Currently, she is pursuing her second degree in Biology at the University of Colorado, Denver and will be attending medical school. She loves to work with youth, especially introducing them to the warm & welcoming Hispanic culture and language.
Ms. Madeline Clark
Ms. Madeline is studying Spanish Literature and Education at CU Boulder. She loves spending time with students, especially when she gets to help them learn Spanish. Madeline is so excited to be working with Sarah’s Spanish School!
Ms. Diana Holguin
Diana Holguin is a graduate of the University of Colorado in Denver, with a Bachelor degree in political science and communications. Her native language is Spanish; she is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico where she went to school as a young girl. On her free time she enjoys the outdoors, reading, and spending time with her family. She has volunteered at Centro Humanitario in Denver, she works as a translator, and is continuing her master’s degree in education because teaching eager young minds is a glimpse into a bright generation with a brighter future.
Ms. Yari Figueroa
Yari was born in Mexico and came to Colorado when she was 7 years old. She has been working with students for 4 years at an Alternative Campus and currently works for Adams 12 District as an Attendance Liaison, while working on her Spanish BA. She absolutely loves working with students of all ages and seeing them grow and mature into young successful students. She also enjoys traveling and just spending time with her amazing husband!
Ms. Lisa Cornacchia
Ms Lisa has loved living in Colorado for the past 18 years. She studied at the University of Colorado in Boulder where she earned a BA in Communication as well as an MA in Elementary Education. During this time, she also studied abroad in Seville, Spain where she had the opportunity to immerse herself in the Spanish culture. Lisa taught 11 years of first grade in Boulder Valley School District before recently moving to Evergreen, Colorado with her husband and two children. She loves spending time with her family and enjoying the Colorado outdoors. She is excited to share her passion of teaching and learning with our students!
Ms. Debra Robinson
Debra is a Colorado native that was born and raised on the Western Slope. She currently lives in the foothills of the Denver Metro area. Her love of Costa Rica and Colorado history has been her inspiration to become fluent in Spanish (a work in progress). Through a variety of activities, she has devoted her life to teaching and caring for elementary students. Her compassion and ability to develop trust with children makes her a valuable asset. She is excited to share her knowledge with the students of JeffCo Schools.
