Florida Teachers:

Ms. Paula Contreras






Ms. Paula was born in Puerto Rico, and has lived between the island and Florida her whole life. From a young age she has been passionate about language, deciding at age 14 to become a Spanish teacher. She started college at age 16 and graduated from University of South Florida in 2010. She is currently a tutor, interpreter/translator and a song writer. Ms. Paula has written poetry and short essays, published during her college years. She is a mother of three children who are bilingual just like her, and is currently pursing her Master's degree at UCF.  Ms. Paula is currently teaching in our Orlando, FL, schools.

Ms. Liz Caraballo





Ms. Elizbeth Caraballo was born in Puerto Rico and was 12 years old when she moved to Orlando Florida. Later on she returned  to Puerto Rico for college to become a K-3rd teacher in the University Interamericana of Puerto Rico, but three years after that she moved back to Orlando Florida to continue her studies. Ms Elizabeth also went to a pharmacy University and became a pharmacy technician.   She is a mother to four children who are bilingual just like her and she is so excited and passionate to have the opportunity to teach more children not only my language but my culture.

Ms. Betty Vazquez









Ms. Betty was born in Cuba and raised in Venezuela, where she completed a degree in Social Communication and a Masters in Organizational Communication. She worked for 18 years as a reporter and editor for newspapers and magazines in Caracas, Venezuela. After moving to the United States, Ms. Betty collaborated on articles for “Diario de México USA”  for two years and  she is currently a freelance translator and editor of the newspaper “La Voz de New Jersey”.  She has also  worked as a caretaker and tutor. Children, languages and teaching are her true passion.

Ms. Monique Boronat









Ms. Monique is a native Spanish speaker.  She was born in Cuba and lived in Paris, France and Madrid, Spain.  She obtained her B.S. in Business Administration.  She is an interpreter/translator and a multilingual private tutor, experienced in teaching languages to children and adults.  Ms. Monique is a strong supporter of elementary language educational programs so that all children have the opportunity to learn a foreign language.  Her favorite words are:  "¡Habla español!".

Ms. Tere Rodriguez-Nora

Ms. Tere is an award winning, children’s book author, educational representative, and professional school counselor. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico; therefore her Spanish is precise and impeccable. As a writer, Tere likes to read and share her stories with children.  She is very passionate about the Spanish language and cannot wait to share that passion as well as her culture with all the children. Ms. Tere is a teacher at our Orlando, Florida schools area.

Ms. Kimberly Patton

Ms. Kimberly Patton is native to cold Michigan, but has lived in the south since 2010 and loves Central Florida. She fell in love with the Spanish language 12 years ago and no one has been able to pry her hands away from studying it at every turn. After earning her Bachelor's Degree and spending six years in the Financial Services Industry, she is now a tutor for adults learning English as a second language. She is often found reading or writing creative non-fiction for her website, as well as teaching Spanish to any child or adult willing to learn! 

Ms. Wendy Baldera

Ms. Wendy Baldera was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to New York when she was 8 years old.  She has a Bachelors in Education and is currently in the process of becoming an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician).  She has always worked at the public schools with Especial Education students, doing ABA or at the bilingual department.  Ms. Wendy just moved to Florida last summer and is very exited to teach not only her native language but also the different traditions around the world.  She is eager to begin this new adventure. 

Mr. Donald McQuillen

Donald has been teaching ESL for nearly 14 years! He’s also CELTA certified and taught for another 7 years in Madrid to students of all ages. Donald lived in Puerto Rico for a short time as a child, where he formed a based knowledge and appreciation for Spanish. He has a Bachelor’s in Print Journalism and Public Relations. Don is a teacher at our Palm Beach area schools.

Mrs. Teresa Baskervill

Teresa was born in Mexico, but she has lived in so many amazing places! She earned her electrical engineering degree in Mexico, and her Associate’s in Business Administration in CT. She’s worked in Corporate for thirty years, but is currently a teacher of ESL for the Palm Beach school system. As a bilingual person, Teresa strongly feels that learning a second language at a young age is essential to expanding general knowledge and experience. She is excited to start teaching her native language and to share her culture with bright young minds! Teresa teaches at our Palm Beach area schools.

Ms. Deisy Velasquez

Deisy is working to become an elementary school teacher in the U.S. She has always enjoyed working with kids because of their joy when they learn something new!

Ms. Nicole McDaniel

Ms. Nicole has been speaking Spanish for nine years after teaching it to herself. She is currently a senior at the University of Central Florida obtaining her bachelor's in Linguistic Anthropology with a minor in Linguistics as well as a TEFL Certification. She has been passionate about teaching foreign languages specifically since she arrived to college and especially passionate about people, especially children, learning as many languages as they possibly can. She is now trilingual, speaking English, Spanish and Portuguese,  as well as currently learning Russian! Upon graduation, she would like to teach English as a foreign language overseas all over the world! "I am passionate about teaching because I am passionate about learning".  Nicole is a teacher at our OCPS schools.


Ms. Dinelsa Morales

Dinelsa is a Puertorrican living in Orlando Florida. Wife and mother of two beautiful girls. She holds a Bachelor's in Education as well as a Master's and Doctorate in Family Therapy and Counseling. She is a passionate educator who loves teaching. Her main language is Spanish. She recognizes the importance of bilingualism for the personal, educational and social development. Dinelsa believes that education should be a fun journey, full of new experiences everyday. She wants to share her teaching with all her students. Dinelsa teaches Spanish at our OCPS schools.

Ms. Brooke Leonard

Brooke has been learning/speaking Spanish for about 13 years now. She has a Bachelors in Psychology and a Bachelors in Spanish Language and Literature. She just got back from a year in Granada, Spain where she got a Masters in Neuroscience. She loved her experience abroad and cannot wait to return one day. Brooke aspires to further her education in psychology, but in the meantime has started substitute teaching for OCPS. She is very excited to work on immersion learning with her students at Sarah's Spanish School!

Ms. Soleil Blaise

Soleil was born in Miami, FL, however her parents are Dominican and Puerto Rican, so Spanish is her first language! She’s currently attending college to become an elementary school teacher. She has been working with children since she was in high school so, in total, about six years! Soleil has a passion for helping children learn and giving them tools to help their success in life. She believes that learning Spanish and being bilingual is a huge advantage, she believes, so she is determined to help more children have that advantage. Soleil teaches Spanish at our Palm Beach schools!

Karin Schmelzer

Ms. Karin was born and raised in the beautiful Venezuela and now resides in Jacksonville, FL with her family. She has a B.A. degree in Tourism Business Administration and has worked in a variety of settings, such as the travel industry, as a childcare provider, and as a tutor. She is a wife and mother of two beautiful, bilingual children (like her). She enjoys doing arts and crafts and loves nature, tourism, and foreign languages and cultures. She is very proud of her native language, Spanish, her Latin heritage, and she feels that the US is a richer country because of the mixture of many different cultures. She is very excited about teaching children Spanish because she strongly believes that multilingual people are better prepared for globalized communities and job markets.

Ms. Angela Rivera

Angela was born in Mexico and lived there her whole life, until recently that her family moved to the United States. She’s married and have a beautiful bilingual 3 year old daughter. She understood at a very young age the importance of learning a new language, either for traveling or just to be able to research more about a subject by going to other languages sources.

She’s passionate about Spanish, she loves the beauty of its words and the cadence of it sounds. Which is why she decided to get a major in Communication and graduated from De La Salle University in Guanajuato, Mexico. She understands the younger we learn the easier it will be to hold the knowledge for the rest of our lives.

Teaching Spanish has been her dream come true.

Ms. Ileana Harrold

Mrs. Ileana Harrold is a native Spanish speaker from the Dominican Republic. She moved to the United States with her husband 19 years ago. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in International Business from West Chester University. She has worked for three years at The Guatemalan Tomorrow Fund (located in Jupiter, FL), as a Sponsorship Coordinator, helping children get an education to escape from poverty. She looks forward to working with children and helping them improve their Spanish skills while having fun.

Ms. Jenniffer Rodrigez

Mrs. Jenni was born in Puerto Rico and move to Jacksonville Florida in 2016, She has a Bachelor degree in Business Administration that was obtained in the Catholic University of Puerto Rico. She is a wife and mother of one daughter, who is bilingual like her. She is very happy to have the opportunity to teach elementary students the Spanish language.

Mr. Joel Maldonado

Mr. Joel was born in Puerto Rico, in a small-town call Utuado, He has since lived in Illinois, Florida, Louisiana, and has served in the Army National Guard where he was deployed several times, one time for 12 months where he taught Spanish dancing such as Salsa an Meregue to the people there! When he is not teaching Spanish and dancing, he works as a secruity guard with the Navy and spends time with his family. He is excited to teach his native language to students in Jacksonville!

Ms. Katherine Torres

Katherine is from Puerto Rico. She moved to Florida 4 1/2 years ago. She is an assistant teacher now for children with behavior disabilities, and she is in the process to becoming a PreK-3rd grade certified teacher! She is the mother of 3 fully blingual girls. She believes more than teaching them, she learns each day from them, too! Kids have a lot of energy, spontanity, and creativity we cannot even imagine. She enjoys working with kids and teaching them because each day is different and full of fun! Her hope is that at the end of the day she can contribuite a little bit to their learning and help make good people in the future. Katherine teaches Spanish at our Fleming Island schools!

Ms. Ana Maria Tirado

Ms. Ana is a Spanish teacher who was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She has a bachelor's degree in Bilingual Education which she received at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She lived in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic the first 25 years of her life, she married and then moved to Florida a year later.  She and her husband will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this December 2018. She has one amazing daughter who is 12 years old. Ana has been teaching Spanish for 16 years in South and Northeast Florida in the private school sector and homeschooling community. She grew up in a bilingual, bicultural family with a mother from Pennsylvania and a father from Puerto Rico. As a child, her parents made the choice to teach her and her siblings English in the home and Spanish in their life outside of the home in Puerto Rico. This gave her the advantage of speaking both English and Spanish fluently before she attended school. She truly loves languages and loves to share this knowledge with all her students. Ana teaches at our Fleming Island schools!

Ms. Jocelyn Vigo Cordero

Jocelyn Vigo is currently a student at UCF majoring in Spanish. She is the proud mother of a beautiful 9 month old baby boy that she loves spending her time and traveling with. She is originally from Puerto Rico. Jocelyn cannot wait to get to know all of her students and teach them the beautiful Spanish language and some of the culture. Jocelyn teaches Spanish at our OCPS schools.

Ms. Ashley Zurita

Ms. Ashley was born in Miami, Florida. Her parents are from Chile and she lived there for about 7 years until moving to Ecuador for about 4 years, where she taught English. She is studying at Palm Beach State College to get her BA in Graphic Design. She is very passionate about learning and teaching, and loves kids. Ashley wants every child to know that learning can be fun!

Ms. Jessica Ruesta

Ms. Jessica Ruesta was born in Peru and moved to New York where she completed a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice in John Jay College. Ms. Ruesta has been a tutor in New York for almost 8 years and has helped many kids develop a very great understanding of education and is excited to bring that experience to Florida. She is also a mother of two beautiful teenage daughters and been married for 20 years. She is happy to teach Spanish her students.
