Introduction
Bilingual education is essential in preparing students for future success. We are SO excited you’re here learning how to incorporate Spanish (or any language program) into your school’s daily or weekly curriculum.
Adding an effective, fun, and engaging Spanish program can not only set your school apart from the rest, but also enhance student learning overall and create a more diverse and inclusive environment. Not to mention how fun and exciting it is for students!
At Sarah’s Spanish School, we understand the challenges (and major benefits) of implementing a language program. We work with you to customize a program to fit your exact vision and requirements. With our easy-to-implement bilingual education programs and curriculums, we provide students with fun and engaging learning experiences designed to immerse them in Spanish and culture without you having to hire an in-person teacher, write a curriculum, or mess with your master schedule.
At Sarah’s Spanish School, we make the implementation process easy and stress-free for your school. We provide all the materials needed, from taught-for-you lessons to worksheets, activities, classroom games, assessments, and so much more! With this, there are also other points to consider to help you successfully integrate a Spanish language program to ensure a smooth transition and fun experience for your students.
Assessing Your School’s Readiness for a New Language Curriculum
When planning to introduce a Spanish language program, scheduling considerations are crucial.
Start by deciding when and where students will participate in Spanish classes and how often these sessions will occur each week. This can be as flexible as you need, for example having your gen ed teachers facilitate with their homeroom classes whenever they can fit it in their schedule, incorporating it into your specials blocks, or splitting time with a technology or history class! The possibilities are endless, and we can tell you what other schools are doing that have worked well!
Sarah’s Spanish School offers both synchronous (live instructor via Zoom) and asynchronous (pre-recorded, flexible, at your own pace) lessons… or a mix of both.
The best part is whatever option you choose, we fit into YOUR schedule. We accommodate your unique and individual school schedule to ensure that students have an engaging Spanish learning experience when it is convenient for them, your teachers, and your school.
Setting Clear Goals for Your Spanish Program
Establishing clear goals is crucial for the success of your Spanish program. Define what you hope to achieve, whether it’s preparing students for advanced language studies, enhancing cultural understanding, meeting state standards, or just giving them a unique and special learning opportunity.
Whatever your goals may be, count on Sarah’s Spanish School to support you in achieving these goals!
Leveraging Technology to Support Spanish Learning
Our virtual Spanish classes allow for flexibility in how they are implemented and do NOT need to be technology-heavy. Yes, we offer a fabulous, robust platform that integrates with Clever and many other programs schools use. It is customized to fit your school’s exact needs, with done-for-you grading, checks for comprehension, virtual worksheets, and so much more.
But your students don’t actually HAVE to log-into individual devices to participate in Spanish class.
The facilitator can play the video lesson on one device for the class, such as a SMARTboard, for all students to see and participate together as a group. This is what we recommend, as it is more fun and effective, allowing students to interact with their peers and speak Spanish out loud with zero loss of instructional time.
Alternatively, students can participate in the lesson of the day on individual devices with headphones. It’s flexible and up to your school or individual facilitator.
Through our programs, your school will also have access to its very own online portal. This easy-to-navigate portal allows students and facilitators access to video lessons, worksheets, activities, games, flashcards, assessments, and so much more!
