Training Your Staff for Implementing Our Spanish Programs

Spanish teacher training

The ability to speak multiple languages is more than a skill—it’s a necessity. For young students, learning Spanish opens doors to cultural understanding and future opportunities. However, implementing a robust language program can be challenging. Limited resources, finding qualified instructors, and developing a curriculum that resonates with young learners are common hurdles. That’s where we come in.

One of the most common questions we get from school administrators before they implement our virtual Spanish program is what kind of training is included for their staff. The reason for this question is obvious – because most of the time, these schools have their gen-ed teachers teach the Spanish classes- most of whom do not speak any Spanish!

At Sarah’s Spanish School, we understand the role Spanish language education plays in today’s globalized world, especially in the formative years of elementary and middle school education. This blog post is dedicated to you, the decision-makers and educational leaders, to provide a clear understanding of how our Spanish Facilitator Training program equips your staff with the tools, skills, and confidence needed to deliver an engaging and effective Spanish curriculum, whether or not they speak the language themselves.

Preparation for Teachers and Facilitators

Our program is more than just a curriculum; it’s a holistic approach to language teaching that can also be 100% taught for you, no foreign language teacher required. Here’s how we prepare your teachers/Spanish class facilitators:

  • Teacher/Facilitator Training: Upon acceptance of the program, we will work with you to schedule a live training session for your Spanish class facilitators. They will also get plenty of resources within their portal to support them every step of the way.

  • Unlimited Support: Have a new student join your roster? Need a different resource for a more advanced level of Spanish student? Have a classroom management issue? We’ve got you covered. We support our schools and facilitators for the entirety of their Spanish teacher training courses.

  • Teacher-Only Portal: We give your teachers a one-stop shop for all Spanish resources. Our password-protected portal offers a fully customized scope and sequence, all video lessons, full academic year course content, and facilitator resources. This means less time spent on preparation and more on engaging with students.

  • Facilitator Guides and Daily Plans: Our “open and go” daily plans are a game-changer. Detailed and easy to follow, they take the guesswork out of lesson planning, ensuring that each class is structured yet flexible enough to meet the diverse needs of your students.

  • Support Materials: From worksheets to quizzes and their answer keys, we’ve got it covered. These materials complement our teaching methods, reinforcing learning in an interactive and enjoyable way.

  • Games and Activities: Learning Spanish should be fun! Our optional follow-up games and activities are designed to reinforce lesson content in a playful and inclusive manner including Kahoots, BINGO, Blookits, Simon Says, and so many more!

Engaging and Informing the School Community

An effective Spanish program is a community effort, and we understand that your parents care about what your students will be doing for Spanish class. We provide:

  • Informational Handouts and Syllabus for Parents: Keeping parents informed is key. Our handouts and syllabus outline the program’s goals, content, and benefits, fostering a supportive home environment for language learning.

  • Dedicated Curriculum Coordinator: Your dedicated curriculum coordinator offers ongoing support, ensuring the program aligns with your school’s educational objectives and addresses any challenges that arise.

  • Access At Home: Students and parents can log in and access all course content, including video lessons at home.

Kickstarting Success: The Teachers Implementation Kick-Off Training

The heart of our program is the Teachers Implementation Kick-Off Training. This Spanish training session, normally valued at a minimum of $2,497, is included free with our program for most schools and is designed to equip teachers of Spanish with the necessary language teaching skills and confidence to teach Spanish effectively. We cover how to facilitate the Spanish classes (even if you don’t speak Spanish as a foreign language), how to keep students engaged and get the most amount of participation from them, second language acquisition techniques, and practical tips for creating a love for language learning in young students.

Ongoing Support and Development

Our commitment to your school’s success in implementing Spanish education doesn’t end with the initial training.  Our team provides continuous professional development, resource updates, and real-time assistance for any teaching challenges. We offer:

  • Continuous Training and Support: Our team is always available to provide additional training, resources, and support to ensure your teachers feel confident and prepared.

  • Real-time Assistance: Whether it’s adapting the curriculum to better suit your students or addressing specific challenges, our curriculum coordinator is just a call or email away.

How does the program cater to different teaching styles and student learning needs?

We offer a flexible curriculum with a variety of teaching resources, allowing teachers to adapt their teaching style to the needs of their students.

What are the benefits of using the teacher-only portal?

The portal provides easy access to a wealth of resources, saving time and enhancing the teaching experience.

How does the curriculum coordinate with existing school programs?

Our curriculum coordinator works with your school to ensure seamless integration with your existing programs and educational goals.
