HEY! Sarah here! I wanted to share something with you that makes me giggle.
The theme of this past week in our online Spanish classes was “Because I’m Happy!”
It was SO much fun learning all the things that makes our students happy and what happiness means to them.
They got to do so many cool activities WHILE LEARNING SPANISH, all about “happiness”
They learned about the “happiest countries in the world”
Made a happiness collage
Talked about their “happy places” (and learned some of mine!)
Learned which muscles in your face you use to smile and frown
Made their own smiley emoji stress ball
Baked chocolate chip cookies
… And more!
They even got to learn what different colors are linked to happiness and build their own density tower in a fun STEM class!!! Cool right?!
But what’s funny to me is that even when you plan the coolest activities ever, you never really know which one kids are going to love the most
For me, I think that density tower is pretty freaking awesome!
But do you want to know what the students enjoyed the most this week?
They loved the song!
When I planned this song, I loved that there was repetition on “estoy feliz” (I am happy) to help really lock that phrase into memory.
But I thought it was kind of corny, so I didn’t think the kids would be huge fans of it.
To my surprise, they loved it!
One of the students even asked, “Can you send me the lyrics to this? I want to memorize it and sing it to my parents”. AWWWW!!!
It brings me so much happiness to teach kids a skill that will benefit them for life, and to do it in a way that brings THEM so much happiness, joy and pride.
I hope you find many things to make you happy throughout your day today and into your weekend.
Lots of love,
Sarah
