Spanish School Class - Overcoming challenges

Bilingual education in elementary and middle schools is more crucial than ever.

Principals and school leaders are increasingly recognizing the benefits of including Spanish education in their schools for their students.

However, maintaining a consistent Spanish program can pose several challenges!

Sarah’s Spanish School aims to make including Spanish easy for schools! Our various course offerings allow schools to include Spanish classes when they fit into their schedule, not ours!

There is no need for any staff member in your school to speak Spanish. Our amazing state-certified teachers will immerse your kiddos in fun Spanish lessons that will keep them wanting more!

At Sarah’s Spanish School, we understand these challenges and offer effective solutions to help schools implement and sustain fun, engaging, and consistent Spanish programs!

Understanding the Importance of Consistency in Spanish Programs

With the growing demand for bilingual education, ensuring consistency in your Spanish language programs is more important than ever.

We are SO excited you’re here learning how to incorporate Spanish (or any language program) into your school’s daily or weekly curriculum.

Adding a consistent, fun, and engaging Spanish program can enhance student learning, create a more diverse and inclusive environment, and provide students with FUN ways to learn a new language!

A consistent curriculum is fundamental to achieving the learning objectives set for any Spanish language program. When the curriculum remains consistent, it ensures that all students, regardless of their grade level, receive the same quality of education. Education statistics have shown that students in stable language programs tend to achieve higher levels of language proficiency and academic success.

When students encounter a consistent curriculum, such as Sarah’s Spanish School, they can focus on acquiring Spanish rather than constantly adjusting to new formats or teaching styles. This stability helps create a predictable learning environment where students feel secure and confident. Because the teaching is consistent, students can track their progress more easily, which is motivating and encouraging, leading to a deeper engagement with the language.

Common Challenges in Maintaining Spanish Program Consistency

Schools often face several obstacles in maintaining consistent Spanish programs.

Limited funding can hinder the availability of resources needed for effective language instruction. Additionally, finding and retaining qualified Spanish teachers is a common issue.

We consistently work with schools with various funding allowances, restrictions, and needs to make sure students receive high-quality Spanish education!

Developing a Sustainable Spanish Curriculum

Spanish Curriculum - Sustainable language curriculum

A sustainable Spanish language curriculum is key to overcoming consistency challenges.

At Sarah’s Spanish School, we emphasize the development of a comprehensive and adaptable curriculum that caters to different learning styles and proficiency levels.

Whether you want your school to have Spanish once or twice a week for a full school year, five days a week for a quarter, looking for after-school enrichment, or something in between, we make sure you have instant access to highly engaging Spanish lessons that can be taken anywhere! (As long as you have access to one computer, all students can participate!)

Our curriculum includes fun lessons and activities that engage students and make language learning meaningful! Our classes at Sarah’s Spanish School are known for getting students excited about learning language and culture! Students learn about language and culture through stories, songs, dances, cooking, experiments, crafts and so much more!

In previous classes, students have celebrated the Day of the Dead by creating decorations, learning songs, and watching films! When learning about piñatas, students made their own to decorate the classroom!

Additionally, students have explored famous Hispanic artists like Pablo Picasso while creating art that resembles his works.

And we can’t forget soccer!

When learning about Soccer and The World Cup, students turned their classrooms into a soccer field as they had their soccer practice indoors! Students are constantly learning through movement-based hands-on activities that keep them engaged!

Leveraging Technology to Enhance Program Consistency

Our virtual classrooms eliminated the need for teachers to travel, providing immediate access to some of the best Spanish teachers across the United States, state-certified and experienced.

This level of accessibility in its technology is what sets Sarah’s Spanish School apart, ensuring that every child, regardless of geographic or economic barriers, can benefit from high-quality Spanish lessons and teachers online.

With us, you will have your unique login access that protects students’ data privacy. With your own online portal, you’ll be able to have instant access to daily Spanish lessons! The video lessons can be put on the big screen in your classroom to do together as a class and/or be completed individually by having students log in to their devices.

Building Support from Administration and Community

Gaining strong support from the school administration and the community is crucial for the long-term success of Spanish programs.

Principals and school leaders should advocate for the benefits of bilingual instruction, and highlight the positive impact on students’ academic performance and cultural competence. Research consistently shows that learning a second language has numerous cognitive benefits.

For young learners in particular, acquiring Spanish can enhance overall cognitive development and improve academic performance. Bilingualism has been linked to better problem-solving skills, improved memory, and greater mental flexibility.

Additionally, learning Spanish can strengthen students’ grasp of their native language by enhancing their understanding of grammar and vocabulary. The learning process involved in acquiring a second language also promotes critical thinking and adaptability, skills that are essential for academic success and lifelong learning.

Need help informing parents and your school’s community? We include parent materials that do this for you! Sarah’s Spanish School includes various home-schooled lessons and curriculums that can be completed asynchronously or synchronously!

Engaging parents and community members through informational sessions and cultural events can build enthusiasm and commitment to the program. Collaboration with local organizations and businesses can also provide additional resources and opportunities for students to practice their Spanish language skills in real-world contexts.
